Dental Plans

As of this year, there are more than 100,000 dentists accepting discount dental plans (DMO’s or DHMO’s) across the United States. Because there may not be a single “best” dental insurance plan, many families are looking for alternative coverage that would be affordable and fits the needs of their families. Also, because of the different dental options available today, we want to share a check-list of some things to consider before you choose your next dental plan.

To evaluate the best plan for you and your family, Royal Dental suggests asking the following questions before making your decision:

  • What are the specific terms of the plan?
  • How large of a discount does the plan provide?
  • What is the total cost of the services or procedures?
  • Does that figure include all fees related to the procedure?
  • What services or procedures are not covered by the discount plan?
  • Are there waiting periods for certain procedures.
  • If I used a dentist outside the plan’s network, how much will I have to pay?
  • What doctors participate in the plan’s network?
  • Does my current dental office accept the coverage I’m considering?
  • Are there any dental specialists on the plan?

At Royal Dental, we strongly believe that every individual, regardless of the plan they are on, should have the opportunity to be seen by one of our doctors. That’s why we accept most major insurance and discount dental plans.
