If you have lost one or more natural teeth, your dentist will present you with several options for their replacement, including removable dentures and bridges. However, dental implants have gained widespread popularity as a durable and esthetically pleasing tooth replacement option. If you’re also considering dental implants for replacing your missing teeth, it is essential that you learn more about this tooth-replacement option. This article explains everything you need to know about dental implants so that you can make an informed decision about your oral health.
Did you know that dental implants look, feel, and function like natural teeth? This is because, unlike dentures and bridges, an implant is inserted directly into the jawbone. As a result, the implant anchors itself firmly within the bone and serves as a replacement root, offering a solid foundation for the false teeth attached to it. In this way, an implant functions just like a natural tooth root. This is also why dental implants can restore one’s ability to eat and speak without difficulty.
Unlike removable dentures and teeth bridges, dental implants have a long service life. According to the American Dental Association, dental implants can last a lifetime if they are looked after properly through optimal oral hygiene maintenance. This is because dental implants are made from high-quality titanium, which besides being safe, is extremely durable.
You might be wondering if you need an implant for every missing tooth, but that’s not the case. A single implant can support up to two or three false teeth. Even if you have lost all your teeth in a jaw, you will simply need up to four or six implants in each jaw to support a complete fixed bridge – a prosthesis known as an all-on-four implant-supported complete bridge.
When comparing different tooth replacement options, dental implants offer the most esthetically pleasing outcome. This is because your dentist can attach natural-looking zirconia crowns or prostheses on your teeth that are not only strong and durable but also blend in with your natural teeth and become virtually indistinguishable. This is why implants are used in Professional Cosmetic Dentistry in Houston for esthetic tooth replacmemts.
Did you know that as soon as you lose a natural tooth, the surrounding bone starts to degrade at a rapid rate. Even if you replace that tooth with a conventional denture, it will put direct pressure on the bone and further exacerbate the problem – making the jawbones brittle and more prone to fracture. That is why removable dentures cannot be used as a permanent option for tooth replacement. On the other hand, another benefit of the dental implants Houston is that they don’t cause bone degradation. Instead, titanium-based dental implants promote bone formation that keeps them firmly embedded – and also maintains sufficient bone quality and density.
When it comes to the replacement of missing teeth, there is no option better than dental implants. Whether you have lost a single, more than one, or all teeth in your jaw, you can replace them using tooth implants Houston. The best thing about dental implants is that they allow you to eat all your favorite foods and to speak clearly and confidently. So, book an appointme get your teeth replaced using professional cosmetic dentistry Houston, and walk away with the smile you have always wanted.
