When we see our kids happy and smiling every day, we wish to preserve their adorable smiles and sparkling teeth forever. But, do you know what makes your child’s smile so cute? Besides their innocence, their pearly white teeth make them look so beautiful when smiling. So, as parents, if we want our kids to enjoy a beautiful smile throughout life, we must look after their oral health.
But, good oral hygiene is not just essential for a pleasing smile, but also for enjoying optimal overall physical health and wellbeing. And this is where pediatric dentistry becomes important. Even if we take good care of our child’s teeth by brushing and flossing, regular checkups by a specialist pediatric dentist are equally important.
So, why is pediatric dentistry so crucial for kids’ teeth? This article will explain. So, continue reading to find out how pediatric dentistry treatment at Royal Dental can keep your child ever-smiling and healthy.
Although brushing and flossing are effective measures in keeping your child’s teeth and gums clean, they often prove insufficient. For example, certain oral health problems may not be visible to the naked eye or may not cause any symptoms, but they can be diagnosed by your kid’s dentist during a routine checkup appointment. So, if a tooth has developed a small cavity that is not visible to you yet, your kid’s dentist will detect it and treat it before it requires time-consuming treatment.
The centuries-old saying “prevention is better than cure” still holds for pediatric dental treatment. Taking your kids regularly for checkups can prevent many problems that would otherwise require expensive treatment. For example, if a child is at a higher risk of developing tooth decay, we will apply sealants to their teeth to prevent cavity formation. In this way, an inexpensive preventive procedure will save your child from fillings later on that cost much more and are not as durable as natural teeth. So, pediatric treatment helps you save money.
Pediatric dentists are trained to detect parafunctional habits in children, such as nail-biting, teeth grinding, or tongue-thrusting. These parafunctional habits can harm one’s oral health, affect the jaw joints, and damage the teeth. Therefore, our pediatric dentists at Royal Dental look for underlying signs of parafunctional habits in kids at every checkup appointment and take corrective measures to prevent further damage.
Our pediatric dentists at Royal Dental will also closely monitor your child’s oral health. If they observe any oral health- or diet-related problem, they will counsel the child and their parents regarding optimal brushing techniques and a tooth-friendly diet. This way, good oral hygiene habits developed by kids will be retained throughout life.
At every appointment, our dentists will observe the eruption timetable of your kids. This way, if a tooth is not coming out or its successor is not erupting on time, we will take corrective measures to ensure that all the teeth follow the regular eruption timetable. Furthermore, we will also keep track of the alignment of the teeth. Finally, if our dentists feel that any preventive measure or intervention is needed, we will use different orthodontic appliances to ensure that your child’s teeth remain perfectly aligned and there is minimal need for braces later in life.
Royal Dental takes your child’s oral and physical health seriously. That is why we recommend that you should take your kids for a pediatric dental checkup at least twice a year, so that we can ensure they retain pearly white, healthy teeth and an adorable smile throughout life. So, book an appointment today and let us keep your child healthy and active!
